MASTERCARE Epoxy/Polyaspartic Coating Services:Epoxy has become the generic term for floor coating products. Epoxies are certainly versatile products which can be used in a myriad of ways & are often the correct material to use in certain applications. But there are also Polyaspartic Alipathic Polyureas (now referred to as Polyaspatics), Polyurethanes & Urethanes available, to be used when an epoxy isn't the best option. Concrete coatings give the ultimate degree of protection & stain resistance to concrete, making them ideal for garages & kitchens where chemical & acid attacks are common.
Polyaspartics have become the new player in town, having enhanced properties over epoxy, much of the time. Polyaspartics are more resistant to scratching & chipping than epoxies, due to their elastic nature. Polyaspartics are also fast curing, eliminating the time waiting for epoxy to cure, as they can be recoated within 1-2 hours & available for use the following day after application. The only drawback is they are expensive, but the attributes usually outweigh the expense. If time is not an issue, we may use epoxy the hold our broadcast medium, (more on this later), than clear topcoat with polyaspartic or urethane. We match materials to the desired look, time & budget of each project.
Epoxy/Polyaspartic coatings can have several different appearance outcomes. A simple solid colored coating can be used when concrete protection is the only goal, but becoming quite popular are metallic pigmented coatings. Metallic pigments are available in many colors & by using different colors together, infinite combinations & effects can be produced for a truly 'one of a kind', amazing looking floor. Colored vinyl flake and colored quartz broadcasts are other popular choices. We have also used glitter & colored glass on some floors for a look all their own. These 'mediums' are broadcast by hand into the still wet coating & get locked in as the coating cures. All of these coloring options always receive a topcoat of clear Polyaspartic or Urethane, for the ultimate in color enhancement & durability.
